Basically my leather wall got a hole. I wanted something slimmer as my pockets carry the equivalent of a small tool box. I'd rather get something that would be a life-long purchase then a 2-8 years so the carbon fiber wallet made sense. There are however a lot of companies that make very similar wallets to ridge, however the advantage of getting the ridge wallet is having a company that most likely won't go under any time soon. Your ridge wallet will eventually need a certain level of maintenance, screw replacements or band replacements. Therefore having a product from a company that has a level of security is paramount for getting something meant for a lifetime. The wallet took a small adjustment period, however it is pretty easy to get used to. I would say cards are faster to use with the ridge than a standard wallets, but cash takes a lot longer than with a traditional wallet. If you use cash more the clip is the way to go, but still a hassle.
